McDonald’s Philippines just hit a major milestone — and guess where it happened? Right here in Davao! The world-famous fast food giant opened its 800th store at the heart of the up-and-coming Davao Global Township (DGT), and I was lucky enough to witness this golden moment.
Gracing the opening was none other than McDonald’s Philippines President & CEO, Mr. Kenneth S. Yang, who led the ribbon-cutting ceremony with local partners, store crew, and the ever-excited Dabawenyo McDo fans.
📍 Why Davao Global Township?
If you haven’t been to DGT, now’s the perfect time! This area is booming with energy and development — a wide, walkable, and green district that’s been dubbed Davao’s version of Bonifacio Global City (BGC). Think: beautifully landscaped open spaces, clean roads, bike lanes, and a future-ready vibe that blends business, lifestyle, and community. It’s no surprise McDonald’s chose this progressive location to mark their 800th store.
The branch itself stands out with its modern design, spacious interiors, and a welcoming atmosphere perfect for family hangouts, barkada catch-ups, and even work-from-café days (yes, it’s that comfy!). And yes — there’s ample parking, great accessibility, and that familiar McDonald’s smell we all love.
🍟 A Taste of Something Big
While the celebration was grand, the message was simple: gratitude and commitment. Mr. Yang shared how proud they are to bring this milestone to Davao and how McDonald’s continues to serve not just meals, but feel-good moments to every Filipino. With every new store, they also create new jobs, support local communities, and bring global standards to our local tables.
And of course, what’s a celebration without food? Guests enjoyed the classic Chicken McDo Meal & orange juice for lunch. Hash Brown & iced coffee for ours snacks while soaking in the energy of the launch.
What This Means for Davao?
This opening is more than just another branch — it’s a sign of confidence in Davao’s growth. It shows that major brands see the city not just as a stopover, but as a future-forward home to expansion, innovation, and opportunity.
As a proud Dabawenya, I can say this: seeing McDonald’s 800th branch rise in our own DGT makes me feel nothing but excitement for what’s ahead — for the city, for businesses, and for the people who love a good burger with a side of hope. 💛
📌 So the next time you're craving fries with a side of inspiration, drop by McDonald’s at DGT — and be part of this history-making moment!
