Yano's Bar & Grill at Matina Town Square ‪#YanosBarAndGrill #DavaoFood #DavaoDining

"Are you OKAY?" my dinner partner asked me one night at Yano's Bar & Grill,  a new typical restaurant in Davao City at the base of Matina Town Square (Davao's Premier Lifestyle Center). "You look like you are in great shock."

For almost a decade, its my first time to date a man whom deeply appreciate me so much. Elegantly materialized with compassion and with sweet thoughts in treating me to this restaurant bar with the ease of a cowboy style grill place to cater you with a "BON APPETIT" foods.

SHOCK? Yes indeed, because seeing the place it's still searching for a guiding star. It's new and confused about its identity.  Yeah, I know they called it as a bar and typically serves alcoholic beverages such as wine, cocktails, beer and other beverages and often sell snack foods. But for me, I rather called it a PUB, a type of bars that serves food from a restaurant menu.

Speaking of MENU, what I like about this pub is that they served sumptuous but very affordable food. I got the chance to interview a family, they waited for 15 minutes just to taste their BABY BACK RIBS. Awesome place to bring your family too, kids will surely love their pasta and BBQ.

At that very time, I have just had my dinner. So I need to eat light food, and I ordered their SPAGHETTI and MEATBALLS.

When my order got served, a bit shocked when I see my SPAGHETTI with MEATBALLS.

I thought they serve spaghetti that looks like in the fast food chain, I never expect a humongous serving of spaghetti as big as the plate. I also indulge myself in their huge meatballs! Luckily, I have my partner with me, a perfect meal for 2 to share.

I was super impressed with their extraordinary pasta. The sauce came from an effort and passion, dedicated to bringing up the utmost flavor, taste and smells like there's a lot of rosemary garnishing in it.

The best meatballs I've ever eaten! Well, I am pretty sure when it comes to meatballs all are delicious, regardless how they cook it. But this is different, at first you will not appreciate the taste (my partner doesn't like the taste), he told me it tastes like spicy vegetables which are serve on special occasions.

I ask the one who serve us, what made these meatballs so different from the others? She answered me, "Ma'am, it contains four different kinds of meat, a homemade crumbs and a kind of a preserve Italian chile only the owner knows that".

Oh well, whatever it is, I am too curious to know! Their meatballs are juicy and tender, aside that is very big and somehow fluffy.

PLACE is not big, but people are willing to wait for their queue to dine-in. The interior design gave a dining room the soft upward-cast light effect as if you are going to sleep. It's pretty good idea to have a BAR & a GRILL in one place, but customer's are divided, some customers get in to the spirit already(DRUNK), and somebody will walked inside bringing silver-handled cane(SENIORS), and FAMILY bringing their small one's. Very confusing Marketing Strategy,  to whom they really imply(TARGET) their market.

Well, finding the right tone for a new restaurant is highly complicated. Good to know that they are not that too ambitious and expensive, because if they are complication arises, and Yano's Bar & Grill is both not expensive and ambitious in promoting their place. JUST PERFECT!

ATMOSPHERE.  A muted, softly upward-cast light dining room. Service is excellent; attentive without hovering.

SOUND. Though quiet but not tomblike, you can only hear the sounds at the TABOAN.

RECOMMENDED DISHES. Baby-back ribs, Kinilaw, Chicken Teriyaki, Cheesy Leche Flan, etc..

DRINKS & WINE. Creamy finish top with silver tequila, vodka, blue frozen margarita, cocktails drinks, San Mig Light, Red Horse Stallion

OPEN. Monday to Sunday 8AM-2AM

WHEELCHAIR ACCESS.  The sidewalk dining area is accessible.

  3. I guess judging from your observation they still have to learn how to wow the customers and find their identity which is very critical in order to sustain the business or grow.

  4. I love the place and I think it has great potential. They just needed some tweaking and find their niche among the companies they are in competition with.

  5. Spaghetti with meatballs is an all-time favorite of many and it's good that you had a very generous though unexpected serving of it. Much better than being surprised with a very small serving.

  6. I'm a sucker for pasta, but not really a drinker. I can't even take on a single sip of beer anymore haha. Yano's Bar Grill's serving really is quite generous.

  7. The spaghetti looks really tasty especially the meat balls. Since people are willing to wait for this, it must be good.
